Ruddlesden geotechnical

Earthworks Specifications

On sites that are to be filled or raised, Ruddlesden geotechnical is able to produce earthworks specifications, in accordance with BS 6031:2009: Code of Practice for Earthworks, for both site-won and imported materials, to ensure that the filled/ earthworks structure is suitable for its proposed end use.

Normally using information from a material re-use suitability assessment, Ruddlesden’s earthworks specifications will normally include classification of materials, testing of materials, treatment, excavation, deposition, compaction and validation.

Case Study

Earthworks Specification, Devon

Following a materials suitability assessment, Ruddlesden geotechnical produced an earthworks specification for the proposed material movements at a residential development site in Paignton.

The specification summarised suitable and unsuitable materials present (based on the findings of the materials suitability assessment) and provided details of how to excavate, stockpile and deposit the materials. Guidance on the testing requirements (to confirm the material was suitable for placement/ conformed to those suitable materials detailed within the specification) was also provided.

Ruddlesden geotechnical also carried out the earthworks testing for this project.
