A comprehensive Phase 2 Site Investigation was undertaken including trial pits, window sample boreholes, in-situ soakaway tests, dynamic cone penetrometer (DCP) tests and laboratory testing to establish ground conditions, soakaway feasibility and CBR values, and to identify any potential contamination present.
A mixture of strip/ trench-fill and pad foundations were recommended, depending on the building's construction method.
Calculated permeability values indicated that soakaways were suitable as a means of surface water drainage, though would necessarily be quite large. California Bearing Ratio (CBR) values were provided for use in road pavement design.
The laboratory testing confirmed that no contamination was encountered and it was considered that there was no risk of harm to human health or to controlled waters.
