Often used as a film set for period dramas, it was proposed to create a lake in place of a shallow river, situated in front of a stately home, for aesthetic purposes.
In order to provide information for the design of the new lake, boreholes of the river sediment were obtained by floating the rig on a pontoon. Rotary cores were also undertaken on an old iron bridge, mill sluice and esplanade to establish existing foundation depths and construction.
